The GP1 BioKork provides ultimate ergonomics for the hand just as the rest of Ergon’s Performance Comfort series do, however the unique qualities of cork means that it is now antibacterial and hypoallergenic.
These grips are an ideal upgrade to your electric bike.
Cork’s natural damping qualities also make it an ideal grip material, and its now density mean the resulting bicycle grip is a lot lighter.
The GP1 BioKork uses 40% cork, sourced from sustainable forests in Portugal which is certified for its ecologically sound production. This ecological theme is continued throughout the rest of the grip.
The inner core is plastic reinforced using natural fibre, which make up 40% of its mass. In place of mineral oil, the gel in the palm section of the grip is vegetable oil based.
The clamp can also be 100% recycled. It is all a result of Ergon’s “GreenLab” initiative.
Small diameter, large also available.
Small or large? Which grip size do I need?
In order to help you maintain perfect control over your bike, your hands should not completely envelop the grip, which is why Ergon offers many grips in two size diameters – Small and Large.
The difference refers to the grip width (hand size), meaning a larger hand will have a more positive fit on a thicker grip, while a smaller hand is better fit to a smaller grip. For hand/glove sizes 6.5 to 8.5 we recommend Small, for 8.5 to 10.5 Large usually is better.
The Small and Large label refers to how grip range, simply how thick or thin the grip is. There is no difference in the length or ‘wing’ size between the Small and Large. The small grip is best for riders with small hands, those wearing thick padded gloves, and riders riding/racing technical mountain bike terrain.
The grip range or outer circumference of the round, inner part of the grip closest to levers is 92mm - Small and 102mm - Large. This is the part of the grip you grip with your thumb and pointer finger.
The large grip is best for riders with large hands, commuting, and city riding. We highly recommend visiting an Ergon dealer to get ‘hands on’ with the grip you are considering purchasing. Ultimately, grip size is a personal rider preference.
All grips suit handlebars with a 22.2mm outer diameter common to 99% of bicycles and are supplied as a pair (left and right).
Standard GP series grips require 130mm from the inner edge of the grip to the end of the handlebar.
